Computer woes and weekend of relatives

I guess I should be grateful that our computer gave us a warning before it died so that I had time to make a back-up of our files. After my Thankful Thursday post, the computer bellied up on Friday. Luckily, dh was home, contacted Dell and they sent a replacement part which arrived today! So, once dh gets that in, if indeed that was what was wrong with it, we won't have to share our kids' very slow computer anymore.

Another reason why I was MIA over the weekend was that we had relatives from Maryland visit us. They are such lovely, lovely folks - fun to be with, very sweet, and, best of all (LOL!), they bought a bunch of stuff from the boys: ceramics, photo cards, and soaps! I have some funny stories about them that I'll share later. We have more paper to make this afternoon.

But since it's a hotter than heck day here, I thought I'd leave you with some frosty humor! How was your weekend?

Wow, that was a quick fix! Sounds like you had a busy weekend. :) I've seen the frosty cartoon before. Love it! Girlfriend and I went on a yoga retreat....did you see the little kitten on my post today? OMG...I wanted to take her home so bad. Instead I went home and gave Quincy tons of kisses because she reminded me of him a little bit. Lol!

Hey from Maryland---they must have been terrific guests (smile).

I'm not surprised they would buy some of your treasures!

Hope computer woes are short lived-darn things!!!!

Hugs from Merry-land

ROFL!!! I love that cartoon. Thank you for my laugh of the day.

I'm glad you enjoyed your time with family. Sorry about the computer. You lucky gal... you hava a hand husband. That is nice he can fix the computer for you :)

Ugh. The heat here is killing me in SC. We go outside for about 30 seconds. Even the kiddie pool seems to be boiling!

I never used to be so computer dependent, I was once computer illiterate, but now I've become a bit more computer savvy! Glad to hear you got your replacement part back from Dell and your weekend was so much fun:)

Heather, thanks!! :) My FIL grew up in Western Maryland (Frostburg area). It's really a pretty and rural kinda place.

Blonde, yeah, silly and a little bit sick!

Michelle, I think Quincy is far, far more adorable than that kitty...and that's saying something because I normally can't resist kittens. :)

Carrie, some of the nicest people I know are from Maryland! *grin* Yup...computer's fixed now; yay! Hugs back!

Michelle-Pixie, dh is not very handy, but luckily, he's more handy than I am. LOL!

Jenn, yeah, it's stinkin' hot and humid here too. We have a small pool that the kids and dh cool off in. I don't swim, so I just look at cold cartoons. ;D

Janet, isn't it funny what we get so dependent on these days? :) Thanks; it's good to be back online (with a big screen; my kids' computer has such a small screen compared to ours).

computers are so frustrating! how nice that you were able to spend a good weekend with family - at least it ended well! :)

Glad you were able to get your computer fixed. What paper are you making?

TeresaR said...

Meg, the computer's fine now, but I just spent an hour on the phone with our satellite internet provider and the problem is still not solved. They need to call us back to schedule a service call. *sigh*

Maureen, we're making paper by using junk mail paper! I made it with scent before, but will make it without this time. :)

Hope you didn't have to spend a fortune for your computer part. Fixing computers can be so expensive. My SO if a full service computer tech with his own business, and I would just hate to think of what it would cost me to have my computer fixed or upgraded without him. The snowman cartoon was cute too. Thanks for following my blog and I will put up links on my blog and twitter mom page to your blog. Take care, Brenda

Gosh I hope you can get it fixed with that replacement part! So these were the good kind of relatives, not the "begin to stink after 3 days like fish" kind? LOL

Oh Teresa - I love that cartoon. I actually laughed out loud at the computer screen at that one. Thanks for posting it.

Good luck with all your computer woes!!!

that's why i don't buy dells anymore. nice post!

Brenda, you are soooo lucky to have an SO who knows computers! :) Thanks in advance for the links; let me know if I can do anything else for you!

Tutta, yes, these are the kind who know to leave before they start to smell...LOL! Plus, they are really terrific anyway, so even if they stayed past the 3 days, they'd still be all right to have around. :)

Theresa, glad I made you laugh! ;)

Poemhome, the univ that dh works for has some agreement with Dell so we get discounts. Otherwise, I think we would go for an HP. Our printers are HP. Haven't ventured to Macs yet since there are certain computing stuff that dh can do on a PC but not a mac (I think...not that I know about computing stuff...LOL!)

Very nice blog, and I'm pleased you got your computer fixed. It's soul destroying when they go wrong, we come to rely on them so much.

My HD on the laptop went 3 months ago, luckily I had just about everything backed up, but since the HD was practically full and only 120gb, I spent $80 and got a new 500gb one. Running pretty sweet now thankfully.

Now following you, looking forward to catching up on your previous adventures.

Tony, thanks for stopping by and for following my blog! Glad your computer problems were easily fixed; yeah, we really do rely so heavily on computers now, it boggles my mind.

I visited Annapolis a few years ago and I decided you could just drop me there in town and move my belonging up from California. I could learn to live with the weather, it is just so beautiful there. Great to hear you had a great weekend with loved ones.
