Well, this past week, we lost a young hen (less a year old) to, we believe, TB. Luckily, the other chickens seem healthy enough for now.
I also missed Thankful Thursday, although I will tell you what I'm thankful for: that our car wasn't one of those stuck on the road, or worse, ran off the road, in the slushy conditions on our way to my friend's baby shower yesterday.
On Thursday, dh wanted a field-trip, so we took off to bird-watch at Ewing Bottoms where we saw hundreds of Sandhill Cranes. There was even one Whooping Crane among the Sandhills! Then, as we were watching the cranes, a Golden Eagle flew over them and was circling them, causing the Sandhills to panic (which basically means they were even louder than they were while at rest). I couldn't get the video to load on Blogger, but you can find it at my YouTube page. We also saw four Mute Swans at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge:
And here we are, Sunday again. I'm going to try to continue catching up on my blog reading...I really miss visiting all your blogs and I'm not ignoring you, honestly! :)
Oh, forgot to mentioned that Firefly Mom, of the hilarious Pack of Hungry Snails blog, gave me some bloggy love:
*mwah* - I adore ya back!Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

Happy Sunday to you!
I'm doing the same today. I am so busy all week with the writing and reviewing and PR-ing that I'm not actually getting to do what I really love, the Visiting! I'm dedicating my Sundays to blog catch ups!
I hear you! Where have the last few weeks gone?! I suppose the best time to lose is the frigid winter months, eh? ;0)
Just where does the time go?? I can't wait for the day light to be longer---
Sounds like a great field trip~ I didn't have ones like those growing up (sigh)...
Hi…..
Your blog is breathe taking. It has a great appeal.
I like your blog……
It looks like you had a fantastic week!
I myself cannot believe we are back at Monday. I think that means that I have to accomplish some stuff this week.
Love the quote at the bottom. Truly. :-)
Gosh, time does fly doesn't it. I still can't believe it is going to be March already. I haven't been able to surf blogs lately and I feel withdrawls.
The blog award is way too cute - you deserve it :)
The field trip sounds fun. I love birds, I bet the gold eagle was interesting to see.
If you ever find a way to slow down time, you'll post about, right?? Because I swear the days go faster the older I get ;D
Glad you love the award! Thanks for being such a great bloggy friend!
I'm sorry to hear about your chicken. How sad. I love chickens and want to get a chicken tractor, but have to investigate the laws here some more. I live in a small city...My week, my month, my year, they all keep wooshing by too!
Thanks for dropping by, everyone! Sorry i didn't get to reply sooner...and now it's too later (or later..haha).
Maureen, I hope it works out for you. I just heard on NPR this morning that more and more cities are allowing for people to keep chickens due to the hard economic times.
Firefly Mom, hm, maybe we should ask Dr. Who for help in the time department. My physics is too abysmal to tackle that problem. ;D
Carrie-Gigi, partly we do these fieldtrip because we homeschool and don't want the kids to miss out on anything. Partly, we do them just for fun! ;)
I'm sorry about the chickie you lost. I dread the day when one of my hens goes. How am I ever going to be a chicken farmer?
