Crazy little thing called CH

...with apologies to Queen.

We got some young roosters from friends with the intention of culling them later (since our source of organic chicken has upped and moved to NY). The littlest one, even though it's only a month younger than the second one and 2 months younger than the oldest one, has been left out of the clique. All the chickens seem to want to peck it to death. So, CH (so named because he reminds us of the little chicken hawk in the Foghorn Leghorn cartoons) has taken to treating us like we're his family. He sprints towards us when he sees us and snuggles up to us, sitting on our feet, and following us everywhere. We've never seen a chicken this affectionate, not even the ones we've raised as week old babies. Guess we won't be eating CH. Problem is, we already have a rooster, and a sweet one at that. We'll need to fence a bigger area, most likely.
