Comfort Week - Image

Today is the last day of the Comfort Week Project. I'd like to thank Sherrie (Frenchy's Finds) for creating it. I'd also like to say how much I enjoyed looking at or reading everyone else's entries. And when I get some time this weekend, I'll have to add some to my "follow" list. :)

Friday's theme is image: a picture that represents total comfort to you; either an image of your own or a link to one you love.

This one was easy. Star gazing has always made me feel the most alive and happy and comforted. I feel one with the universe and content to imagine the sentient life outside our own solar system. You can't see the following with naked eye (even a good telescope wouldn't show it quite so well), but it's a fine example of the sort of astrophotography that I enjoy perusing when I'm not out star-gazing.The above stunning image of the Andromeda Galaxy (our closest galactic neighbor) was taken from the wonderful book, Galaxies by Timothy Ferris (the image below got cut off by my scanner): And there we have it, folks. Don't forget to check out the other participants in this fun project, and have a great weekend!

"He is happiest, be he king or peasant, who finds peace in his home." ~ Johann von Goethe

I love that you posted this about you. It's a very beautiful comfort to have - watching the stars.

I've never been much into stargazing but every once in awhile some image like this will amaze me! I think it's all so mysterious to me....are there other beings out there...is it hot there, is it cold..is there oxygen? Great picture!

It is nice to see someone as fascinated with outerspace as I am with inner space! : )

That is such a cool image. My go-to images for peace all have something to do with the ocean. I can almost hear the waves now. Ahhh.

Hello there, you have a beautiful blog. I am a homebody too. It is nice to leave for short time spurs, but always much nicer to come back home. Star gazing is peaceful!

Ooooh, beautiful! It's funny that the ocean and space have come up through the week - I think we're all comforted by things which aren't fully understood. Thanks for playing along this week!

The galaxy image is awesome. It is hard to believe we are but a little spec in all of that.

Vickie, I think it's a peaceful feeling, whether one is interested in astronomy or not. :)

Michelle-Chocolate, the mystery of it is very alluring, indeed! :)

Alli, as I mentioned in your blog post, the two are very similar! :>

Teri, you should go check out Alli's deep ocean photos (Alli is the commenter above you).

Mary, thanks for coming by! I agree, coming home is always the best.

Sherrie, can't thank you enough for thinking of this fun theme!

Michelle-Pixie, some people feel intimidated by the thought that we're just one small speck, but I find it comforting that we're a part of the grand whole - no more and no less special!

What a view! Star-gazing is something that I miss about living out in the country. It's a little harder to see the sky in "the big smoke"!

Austen, I hope you get to star gaze somewhere less hazy at least once or twice a year. :)

I have trouble seeing many stars where we live now, but I still love to gaze. That may be the only true meditating I ever do...

Thanks for sharing. I've really enjoyed your week. :)

Navita, I enjoy reading your yummy recipe posts very much!

Amber, I'm so glad I got a chance, through Sherrie's project, to get to know you through your blog! I'm now following you. :)
