Below is the burger buns recipe that Sherrie (Frenchy's Finds) requested. It's a bread machine recipe, but those of you who know how to cook bread by hand will likely know how to mix all the ingredients together into a good dough.
¾ C + 2 T milk
1/3 C water
1/3 C butter
1 egg
4 C bread flour
3 T sugar
1 ½ t salt
2 ½ t Active Dry Yeast
Load ingredients into your bread-machine in the order specified in its manual (for my Zojirushi, I always put wet stuff in first, followed by flour, butter, sugar, salt, and the yeast in a little well in the center). Set it for "dough" cycle and hit start.
When the cycle ends, dump the dough out onto a floured surface and knead 2 to 3 times to release air. Divide dough into 16* pieces and shape into hot dog or burger buns.
Cover the buns with clean kitchen towel and let rise until double in size (about 1 hour).
Bake in preheated 350F oven (preheat about 20 minutes before the dough finishes rising) for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown.
This is my no-fail recipe that I've been using for at least 10 years now; I hope it works for you as well!
Anything in particular that you're thankful for today?

Omg how did you know
i was thinking about doing this???? CRAZY!
I'm on vacation for 2 weeks and 2 days! Yippee.
And we had an end of year picnic with grilled hamburgers. OMG I really miss yours. sigh...
And that UBC recipe is time consuming. I'll have to see if this recipe is good "enough" for everyday use.
wow thank you for sharing! i am definitely going to try this recipe!!
Did you ever hear that country song that goes, "Get your biscuits in the oven and your buns in the bed?"
Well, I find it funny.
Allison, yay! Bon appetite and post photos! ;)
Grace, after vacay, do you have to go back to the same school/class? Thanks! We miss having you guys over for burgers as much as you miss having them. :} And, ohhhh, yeah, the cinnabuns recipe from the Artisan Bread recipe is TONS easier than the UBC one.
Heather, good! I hope it'll turn out great for you too. :)
Blonde Duck, LOL!! I'm not from Texas, and I'm not that fond of country tunes (ok, I do like Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash and a few others, but I don't usually turn my radio to country), so I don't know that song...but it sounds like a good one! ;D It actually sounds like a Lyle Lovitt song (I love Lyle!).
Yum! I guess I'll be doing some baking this week! Thanks for the recipes!
Thanks for the buns! I will have to try them.
Today I am thankful for the freedom of being able to take off from work and enjoy the sunshine and make up the hours on the coming rainy weekend! ;)
I'm eating graham crackers and reading your blog. I'd bake if it wasn't so dang hot out!
yum I love bread! :)
Believe it or not, my husband is the occasional bread baker. Maybe I will sneak this recipe into his next cook list.
My son says I always make the same kind of bread. Maybe I'll try this next time - it should be different from my brown wholewheat bread. Thanks!
Yup mostly same kids but I hear we're getting one that is going to be harder than any we had this year. sigh...
I'll have to try the buns tomorrow for Father's Day breakfast! As long as it has lots of butter and sugar, John will be happy! :)
Maureen, hope you like them!
Alli, hope you enjoyed your sunshiny day off!
Julie, I hear ya...I bake rarely in the summer when it's stinkin' hot.
Burnt Mill, I love bread too...probably too much for my health! ;>
Teri, does your dh constantly tell you you're the luckiest wife on earth? ;D
Minka, I sub in some white whole wheat flour into this recipe, so it's not all white flour, and make it healthier. :)
Grace, the scones probably made him extremely happy. :> Hope the job isn't as hellish as it sounds like right now!
Teresa, I believe you! I didn't mean my bread is healthy and your isn't - although now that I look back, my comment could be understood like that... What I meant is it could be a nice change. I will try it one day. I do have to "convert" it before that, anyway... (to °C, grams.... you know...) but I will :)
Minka, LOL! I didn't think you were saying my recipe is unhealthful! You reminded me that I forgot to mention I do sub in whole wheat flour in the recipe to make it a bit more substantial. :) Sorry I didn't give conversions; the original recipe didn't have metric or measurement by weight.
Conversions are easy to find, never mind that! :D
butter rolls are my FAVORITE! yum!
