Thankful Thursday late, Happy 4th early, and two, count 'em, two giveaways!

I'm thankful for our wild fruits! Remember the wild blackberries and the black raspberries the kids picked? Here they are served in a simple syrup over Alden's Organic Vanilla Ice Cream:I'm also thankful for our regular veggies. Nothing says summer more than fried squash (until the watermelons come on anyway). These are crook neck squash; we'll have the regular summer squash later in the month. Pre-cooked:Cooked:I'd like to wish all my American friends a very happy Fourth of July! For fun, sing the Star Spangled Banner at the top of your lungs in a public place. I just might do that. I love the U.S. national anthem much more than the Canadian national anthem. :)

And to celebrate the momentous occasion of the birth of the country, you might want to enter some cool giveaways:

The first is from Professional SAHM - where you can win a Joy Carpet.

The second giveaway is from Mudpies and Mary Janes where you can win a Wii Sports Active.

What fun plans do you have for the holiday weekend, or regular weekend if you're not in the U.S.?

The berries and squash look fabulous! Our raspberries are just starting to come in, and the squash still has another few weeks before we'll be havesting any. Can't wait! Until then, I'll just drool all over my keyboard looking at yours ;D

Your food always looks so yummy! And I can't eat today as I had oral surgery (I grind my teeth so much it has ground the jaw bone down, which pulls the gums down, so they have to graft skin from the roof of my mouth on to my gums - yuck!). I'm not going to be having too much excitement on the 4th with not being able to eat our BBQ and Persephone going to bed so early (she is the major morning person, do not even try to get her to stay up late). I hope you guys have a nice 4th! BTW - are you Canadian? I live near the border, but have yet to make it there.

Firefly Mom, drool away...you have to clean up your own keyboard. LOL! ;)

Maureen, oh bummer about you not being able to partake of the 4th of July feast. :( I'd go nuts if I had to watch others eat BBQ and not be able to. I'd insist they all eat dry toast and drink water.

Yup, I'm Canadian...but I'm also American. In Canada, they allow dual citizenship, but here, they only recognize me as American. The U.S. is odd that way.

Teresa, what are the squash breaded in? And did you cook them in olive oil? Happy 4th to you, too!

Yum and yum! The berries look great. And I am such a squash-nut. Love 'em all! :D

Tutta, dh just uses plain AP flour and Jane's Mixed Up Crazy Salt...but it's soooo good that way! Yup, olive oil.

Amber, I adore squash of all ilk too...summer, winter...I chose patty-pan squashes for "my" veggie last year and it is terrific!
