I have such great friends!

I never make a big deal of my birthday. It's not like I dread it, but I've never been one to go on about me-me-me (except for this blog, I guess). Hubby's the same, and so while we let the kids know that we love them and that they're special to us, we don't make a big deal of their birthdays either. As my sister says, "one day, they're grow up and realize that they're not the little princes and princesses their parents make them out to be." ;)

My sweet friend Michelle tells me that she and her family aren't big birthday celebrators either, but that didn't stop her from sending me a very cool birthday gift!
Yes, it is a drop spindle! I am SO psyched. I just love fibre (in yarn and fabric) so it was only a matter of time before I want to try making my own of both, and I already bought a loom. Granted, I need to take a lesson now...and maybe buy carders or combs and a niddy-noddy and...oh, I can hear hubby groaning already. LOL!

Thank you, Michelle!! I do appreciate your thoughtfulness and generosity!

What new hobby are you planning on undertaking soon?

Gah! You have lousy friends too. (points to self)

Happy Birthday, T. Sorry I didn't know it was coming!

Theresa, Happy Birthday! Personally, I am glad that you were born.

I have 2 niddy noddys. I can only take one in the motorhome. And an electric carder that I cannot take in the motorhome. Let me know if you are interested. Oops, I know one hubby that's gonna want to shoot me!

Amber, I don't expect people to remember my birthday...and you're a tad busy anyway with a certain lovely little newborn, Miss Lydia. :)

Nan, awww, that's so sweet, thank you! I'll email you about the equipment. :)

Thanks, Sherrie! You have such faith in me. :) I will be cursing up a storm while trying to figure out how to do this, I'm sure.

Happy Birthday! Yes, you will be cursing. Bring it to the store and I"ll give you a lesson. OR I'm giving a class on Spinning with a Drop Spindle at Hoosier Hills Fiber Festival in Franklin this weekend. It's not too late to sign up. Check their website for details if you're interested.

Robin, thanks! I definitely want to take a lesson from you. :) Maybe during the next Teen Book Club?

Michelle is such a sweetie! What's a niddy-noddy, sounds like something out of a Mother Goose rhyme.

Amber, Teresa doesn't have lousy friends, she has wonderful friends with too much going in their own lives and one super flakey sister.

I am so glad you like it T!! I can't wait til you get started with it and we can talk fiber fiber fiber :-) I picked up the book "fleece and fiber sourcebook" and it is like a fiber bible - it is mind boggling. I have soooo much to learn.

As for new hobbies... um... don't say that too loud or my husbands eyes will bulge out. LOL!

New hobby? I have so many supplies from my "old" hobbies that I haven't had time to touch yet! I was just looking at my jewelry beads that I haven't done anything with in over a year. ;o)

My mom used to weave on a loom! I had some very cool belts and stuff in the 70s that were the results of her creative efforts. Can't wait to see what you create!
