Free stuff, good stuff, tasty stuff

I've been wanting to do a post on spring wildflowers (because I love them!), but it's not happening yet. Here's a teaser with Virginia bluebells to show you what you can expect:In the meantime, I've found other goodies to share with you!

The talented Elizabeth of Gassner Custom Soaps (and more! Her lipbalms are tops in my book) is offering a bar of free soap for the price of postage. How generous is that?! While you're there, check out her weddings and Mother's Day offerings.

Carrie, Under The Willow Gifts, has Earth Day and Mother's Day specials, and I encourage you to try her incomparable Natural Laundry Soap.

For those of you who make your own body and bath products, there are a couple of ladies who are offering some nice specials too. Joanna is having a Destash sale on some of her EOs and FOs...mmmm! For those of you in Europe, Gracefruit is having a 20% off sale...yes!

For others, still, who are more interested in gardening: if you're wondering what you should be planting now, Mother Earth News has a helpful guide.

And those of you who are wondering what to do with your bounty of radishes and asparagus (oh, was that only us??), Mother Earth News has a nice recipe to try.

I'm with Teri, I'd like to try my hand at asparagus. A prof in our dept said he's tried and failed, but never say die right? Hopefully it grows in this climate.

mmmmm. bounty of asparagus! you lucky girl! we went out to a friend's overgrown patch, and hunted for some last weekend. * fresh * is the only way to have asparagus!

Epi, I would think that if you can grow figs in Van, you could grow asparagus. You can always ask dh for hints and tips at growing them. :)

Cake, I do think we're lucky to have so much asparagus! We're thinking we'll plant more beds of them in the future too. Right now, we keep on top of the harvest so we never have enough to freeze; but if we have 3 more beds of it, that might give us plenty for processing.

I.love.asparagus. SO MUCH!! Radishes? Hmm . . . I haven't really seen the allure. Why can't you be my neighbor? I'd be hopping your garden fence to get at your treats!

I wish I had tons of asparagus growing, I love it! Unfortunately, all my attempts at growing asparagus have been unsuccessful. Isn't asparagus one of those plants that doesn't grow the first year? Foxglove is like that and I have had not luck with it either, even though it grows like a weed here.

Melody, so nice to have you back! And thanks for the compliment.

Joanna, looove D. Adams! Glad you sold your stash. :)

Blonde, thanks!

Together, I hope your trip was nice!

Allison, we keep offering our bounty to our neighbors, but they've been too polite to take us up seriously. :> I didn't use to like radishes, but the ones we grew ourselves are so much better!

Maureen, asparagus can't be (or shouldn't be) harvested the first year so that it can put all its strength into establishing itself...that's important for a perennial (so the same thing applies to strawberries...but we've cheated and harvested the first year before, just a little bit). I'm not sure why your attempts at growing them would be unsuccessful though. Keep trying and good luck! :)
