The boys and I watch educational videos if we're at home during the lunchtime. Currently, we're watching How the Earth Works, and I was astounded by the above fact the instructor presented. For many years now, whenever we drove by a sign that said "Topsoil for Sale", dh always shook his head and said, "they're selling their souls." He's so right.
But on to a more cheerful gardening topic, the really nice seed company, Hometown Seeds, that I have on my sidebar, gave me some lovely sample seeds for having their logo on my blog. Click on photo below to see what all the seeds are.
I can't wait to try out some of these seeds though...or, more correctly, I can't wait for dh to try out some of these seeds!
By the way, our asparagus are poking out!!! :)

Wonderful, so I guess we'll see lots of pics when these seeds "grow up". Great to teach kids about seeds, if your kids weren't already fully educated on agriculture already.
You are so right - they are beautiful. :) Yay for the growing season!
So interesting- nature at it's best- from seed to land to lucky harvesters!
ooo! can't wait to see them after your green thumbs have had their way with them!
yummm, asparagus.
Aww, you're too good to me. ;) Can't wait to see your seeds in action!
Ooh nice seeds. What's a Four O'clock?
Epi, you'll see lots of pics if I don't flake out and forget to take photos. :}
Sherrie, yes! Growing season makes us happy!
Carrie, it's fun to have a hand in creating one's food!
Meg, thanks! But it's dh's green thumb, not mine. LOL!
Meg_L, unfortunately, they're not ready to be harvested yet, or we'd have you over for dinner on Wednesday. :}
Amber, and I can't wait to see your seeds in action! ;)
Grace, we didn't know either, so I had to look it up. It's a flower that seems to look like morning glories: http://www.hometownseeds.com/annual-flower-seeds-c-210/four-o-clocks-marvel-of-peru-seeds-p-44
Asparagus? YUM!! One of my favorites! Our tomato seedlings have popped out (indoors) which I am very excited about!
I hope you had a good Easter!
Wow, great looking seeds. I never knew they came in so many shapes and sizes! But what do I know...oh yes! I know how to kill plants. LOL! I knew my post would torture you. Lol! I thought of you while posting it. Hope you all had a wonderful Easter. Sis and niece are here and the Quincy torture has begun. My niece will not let him down...oh yes, the fur is already flying from stress. LOL
So jealous!! Trying for a small garden this year.
I am constantly distracted by food in my stories. :)
Wow - free seeds! That is so cool! I love, love, love your gardening posts. I can't wait for your hubby to try them out, either :D
Isn't that cool?
Reminds me of the time Faulkiners (now Shepherds) the wonderful paper/bookbinding shop in London sent me a whole hide of black leather to say 'thank you' for mentioning them so much on my blog. They had googled themselves and I came up so many times they felt they had to thank me :-)
Looking forward to seeing how those seeds turn out.
I love the flower photo on your header! Pretttty
Happy gardening! Nice assortment of seeds. Isnt this the best time of year? Earth wakes up, and we always get another chance to start again! Life should be like a garden!
those seeds are so beautiful, and now, your flower header is actually seasonally appropriate!
